Jaipur fort circuit: Amer, Jaigarh and Nahargarh in one day
A practical one-day route linking Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort and a Nahargarh Fort sunset — Jaipur's three major forts, in a sensible order.
Jaipur has three major forts within a short drive of each other, and doing all three in a well-planned order turns into one of the better single days you can spend in Rajasthan.
A sensible order for the day
- Start at Panna Meena ka Kund — a stepwell just below Amer, worth ten quiet minutes before the crowds arrive at the fort itself.
- Amer Fort — arrive early; this is the largest of the three and deserves the most time.
- Jagat Shiromani Temple — a short stop in Amer town, easy to fold in between Amer and Jaigarh.
- Jaigarh Fort — connected to Amer by a short uphill road, home to sweeping views over the whole complex.
- Jal Mahal viewpoint — a quick photo stop on the way back into the city, right on the lake.
- Nahargarh Fort — save this for late afternoon; it's best known for sunset views over Jaipur.
Getting between the stops
A car or taxi for the full day is the simplest way to do this circuit, since the stops aren't really walkable between each other (Amer to Jaigarh is a short drive, and Nahargarh is on the opposite side of the city). If you'd rather use public transport, buses run toward Amer, but you'll likely still need a taxi or auto for the Jaigarh and Nahargarh legs.
Pro tip: If you only have time for two of the three, pair Amer with Nahargarh — Amer for the history and scale in the morning, Nahargarh for the sunset over the city in the evening — and treat Jaigarh as the one to add back in if your schedule allows.
Practical notes
This circuit works well as a single day if you start early, but it's a genuinely full day, not a leisurely one — build in buffer time, especially around midday heat outside the cooler months. See our Amer Fort access guide for more detail on the first and longest stop.
